What Women Want: Dr. Rebecca Housel and Jennifer Waddell

What Do Women Want?

A_Pro Advocate Radio Photo with Jennifer Rebecca and DebIf you ask Dr. Rebecca Housel and Jennifer Waddell, our guests on this show, they will say, “Making a difference for others with our experience, and challenging our peers and audience to make better decisions…that’s what we want!” And these two women with very different perspectives do just that, and do it beautifully.

Dr. Rebecca Housel, The Pop Culture Professor, Author and Speaker

Dr. Rebecca is a treasure of art, science, enlightenment,  fantasy and humor and we are thankful to have her in our arsenal of experts and authors. Her work is known around the world and she says it like it is, including when it comes to advocating for those affected by others’ bad decisions, including when violence is used. Doc Housel is no typical “doctor” but one who reveals pop culture lessons through an intelligent and witty lens.

Founder, Executive Director

My Advocate Center is building and offering solutions needed in each community, in each state in the U.S.A. and beyond. We are about improving family stability and seeing that the needs of children are met.

When families, especially single parents and children, become homeless it turns into a daily struggle to cover even their most basic needs so we are glad to feature Children’s Restoration Network and support their drive for school supplies, clothing and backpacks to help fill these voids for homeless children. As we grow and expand, we are engaging more organizations that work to prevent homelessness as well as to serve urgent and current needs in our communities.

Our work includes serving military and veteran families and children, as they often fall onto hard times during and after service, but our veterans are also a part of the solution. Positions are being created to put as many veterans and veteran family members to work as possible.

Our Professional Spotlight #onPAR serves the mission of uplifting families and children who are caught in conflict, whether it is before the breakup of a relationship, during divorce or child custody disputes, or after a legal battle when recovery and peace are needed.

Bold moves are being made to help parents understand how to better transition through & out of conflict, meaning we help reduce stress for children, and preserve family time & resources for their benefit.

Professionals who are like-minded are encouraged to connect and become a part of our Resource Directory. Please visit the Counsel for Change group page here on LinkedIn to learn more about our discussions. Our advisory panel reviews professionals to ensure certain standards are met. If you are focused on upholding ethics rules, professional duty, and are committed to helping children receive the best that both parents have to offer, let us know.

Our investigations, initiatives & strategies are also well suited to supporting government agencies in making necessary improvements to programs & services. It is important that these changes are made to better serve parents & children; but it is also possible to yield a positive economic return for each community & state.

MAC’s purpose in contributing to agencies & other organizations is to improve the divorce/child custody process in a way that leaves our communities stronger & better able to support the needs of children. We now have opportunities to lessen the impact of family violence, addiction & other dysfunction, while putting our financial resources to better use.

A Father Asks to be in His Children’s Lives

A Father Explains Family Court Pitfalls; Asks for A Chance to be Involved with Kids

More and more parents like this father, Jack, are speaking out to reveal for others the potential pitfalls of our Family Law system after being trapped in unnecessary litigation. As Jack is using his experience to help others more safely navigate the legal process around family conflict, he is also working to have a second chance for a life with his children. What is holding him back?

Legal Support is the number one issue for parents like Jack, and we now know there is a major shortfall in the area of Pro Bono support in Family Law. So this show has everything to do with asking our community to pitch in. Let’s make this needed support – intervention and second chances – possible!

10470869_1607230029536991_1227770481208801366_n (1)In Jack’s world, where his children were wrongfully removed from his life, nothing made sense until he realized he just didn’t have access to the right information and resources.

So now that Jack knows the landscape, and is still focused on what his children need from him (from both parents), he is asking for the opportunity to restore balance in their lives.

He just wants to be a part of their lives and for them to know him and receive all that he has to offer as a father. That is a major focus of the work being done by Pro Advocate Radio’s title sponsor, My Advocate Center, Inc. This mission is shared by other like-minded organizations such as The Fatherless Generation Foundation and The Fatherless Daughter Project. We all agree that children need their parents in their lives, and when a parent is available, motivated and has much to offer their child – whether mother or father – they should not be denied, and the children especially should not be denied.

There is no easy or nice way to put this, as the pitfalls Jack faced when going through the family court process were caused by certain professionals seeking to prolong the litigation, turn a divorce into an unnecessary custody fight, and to drain the family financially and emotionally. It is unfortunate that this goes on, that it happens often, and is driven simply by greed, enabled by a lack of transparency and oversight, and it damages children when one parent is punitive and uses the children to harm the other.

The children suffer the most, and parents realize too late that the legal process can be dangerous in regard to staying in the lives of your children; for some, there is little to no hope of being left in a position to give their children what they need.

Best of Both Parents_My Advocate Center 2014Children need for parents to be available for them, peacefully working together.

What they need and want is the best of BOTH parents.

My Advocate Center invites law schools to study this case and to help students understand what fiduciary duty failures look like in real family law cases, and what is possible in terms of solutions this coming generation of lawyers can offer.

Serving Veterans and Military Families

Serving Veterans and Military Families: Professional Spotlight on Hire Heroes USA

In honor of our fallen soldiers on Memorial Day we hosted our first show featuring veterans and the organizations and companies they work with to help care for veterans and to uplift our military community, their families and children.

Featuring this work has special meaning for us as we honor our family members who have made a positive impact in how they have served our country, and worked to protect our freedoms.

The advocacy work we engage in also gives us more perspective into the lives of veterans and military families who face many of the same challenges that other faces face, plus a whole lot more.

Stay tuned for future shows!

Danny Naggiar, Atlanta Family Law Attorney

Danny Naggiar / Atlanta Family Law Attorney
Partner at Naggiar & Sarif Family Law, LLC

Family Law attorney Danny Naggiar joined Pro Advocate Radio’s Professional Spotlight in April 2015. Danny explained about his military background paving the way for him to assist families, both military and civilian with the often complex range of issues parents are confronted with as they divide financial assets, property, and most importantly work out parenting plans that serve their children well.

Danny’s calm manner and quiet resolve in guiding parents to the best outcome for themselves and for their children drew an enthusiastic and even grateful response from our audience. We sought out Danny for our Professional Spotlight not only because of the accolades his firm has been given, such as those from Martindale-Hubble and by Georgia Trend and Atlanta Magazine, but because of his track record and the validation from other professionals.

Watch for updates here and details on future shows with Danny and his partner David Sarif.

Nick Lulli Investigative Reporter on Augusta Family Court

Nick Lulli
Investigative Reporter

Nick Lulli at Pro Advocate Radio on Business RadioX

WFXG News Reporter Nick Lulli joined Pro Advocate Radio to discuss the tribulations seen and heard in the Augusta Judicial District, specifically found in Superior Court cases involving family law matters.

Child Custody, Divorce and parenting conflict have caused a large public outcry over prolonged litigation and damages ranging from children being taken from good parents, children being left in unsafe environments with DFCS reports ignored, to property being wrongfully taken – even stolen – from parties, and including wrongful incarceration of parents who could have been exonerated should the court allow the evidence and testimony in. Augusta citizens are in dire straights, and reporter Nick Lulli did not pull punches in describing what he’s been observing and reporting on. In Nick’s reports we see clear evidence of misconduct by certain Guardians ad Litem (GALs), psychologists who function as court-appointed “Custody Evaluators” and therapists to children and parents who are trapped in the system and given no choice but to comply – and to pay high fees – or else.

Journalist Nick Lulli_Investigative Reporter on Family Court Troubles in Georgia

Ongoing litigation involves questions about the accuracy of transcripts and guardian ad litem billing records, so please follow Nick, Pro AdvocateRadio and My Advocate Center to stay up-to-date on these stories and on the outcome of reviewing and reporting on these cases.

Parents Reveal Family Law Pitfalls: Dishonest Attorneys

Parents Tammy and Tony Reveal Family Law Pitfalls

Parents Tammy and Tony speak out to reveal for others the potential pitfalls of our Family Law system after being trapped in unnecessary litigation.

There is no easy or nice way to put this, as the pitfalls were caused by dishonest attorneys seeking to prolong the litigation, turn a divorce into an unnecessary custody fight, and to drain the family financially and emotionally.

This strategy known only to the attorneys would have left this couple without the ability to co-parent together and without the time and financial means to give their son what he really needs. He needs them available for him and peacefully working together.

Best of Both Parents_My Advocate Center 2014

There is no argument that Tammy and Tony both wanted what was best for their son, and for the purpose of this show we’ll call him “Junior.” Even though they were struggling and having a hard time communicating, they never envisioned destroying each other. What actually took place will shock you.

They never fathomed their own attorneys would give such poor advice and cause them to do harm to each other, in ways that were unnecessary and that went against their nature and what they wanted.

Fortunately, Tony was able to see the deception that was leading to increased stress and risk for them as a family, and that would likely jeopardize his rights as a father. Separately and with no knowledge of what Tony was experiencing and realizing, Tammy came to My Advocate Center through a referral from a friend. She was able to talk to an attorney for a second opinion about her situation, and realized that not only was she getting poor advice, she was being guided to make their conflict worse. As a mother struggling to overcome a painful injury and disability, this was the last thing she needed.

Please listen and share what you learn here, and ask families caught in conflict to pause, take a step back and consider alternatives to what goes on in many divorces and child custody disputes.

Identities are being shielded here for privacy and to allow this family time to heal and recover from what they were put through in this legal matter. The good news is that they were able to take a time-out long enough to compare notes, to reach a more peaceful common ground, and decided to use their experience to help others.  They are not, however, out of the woods.  Tammy needs a leg up to recover from the suffering caused in this case and a chance to recover financially from what appear to be unnecessary losses.

My Advocate Center invites law schools to study this case and to help students understand what fiduciary duty failures look like in real family law cases.
